De-Sign Scrapyard
by Tasmeem 2023: Poster Exhibition

We're thrilled to have one of our posters featured in the De-Sign Scrapyard by Tasmeem exhibition, alongside a curated collection that reimagines identities through innovative letterforms and visuals. These posters breathe new life into discarded concepts, pushing boundaries and exploring fresh perspectives. By employing diverse techniques such as reinterpreting meanings, adjusting compositions, experimenting with scale and shape, and reimagining letterforms and materials, artists rewrite narratives with alternative conclusions.

The primary aim of the exhibition is to showcase the design process and challenge the notion of discarded creative endeavors. Visitors are invited to craft their own interpretations of the De-Sign Scrapyard—a celebration of forgotten concepts and unrealized potential.

Featuring a selection of 12 artworks chosen through an open call, the De-Sign Scrapyard by Tasmeem exhibition welcomes the public free of charge, starting from Thursday, June 15th.

Exhibiting artists include Maryam Namvar, Mohamed Alaa, Younes Al Aboud, Sayed Kammoun, Mohammed Ameer, Maxime Cramatte, Lujane AlQaoud, Fatimah Emad Barzaq, Mobius Design Studio, Fatma Ashraf, Eman Fikri, and Danial Alemasoum. The open call for this year's exhibition was curated by Designer and Artist Mariam AlZayani (@mariamalzayani).

The selection committee comprises Special Project Director at Alserkal Advisory Fiza Akram (@fizaakram), Graphic Designer and Calligrapher Ibrahim Khamayseh (@ibrahimzaki.kh), Designer and Researcher Imad Gebrayel (@imadgebrayel), Multidisciplinary Visual Art and Design Studio Turbo (@45turbo), and Independent Design Studio 40MUSTAQEL (@40mustaqel).
